Wedding Reception Events

The following order of events represents a typical wedding reception. However, the sequence and events can be modified in any way. It is simply presented here to help with planning, if needed.

• Background music while guests are arriving (30-45 mins)

• Start of Reception with Bridal Party Entrance/Announcement (5 mins)

• Music during dinner (1 hour)

• Toast by Best Man and/or any other guests (5-15 mins, near the end of dinner)

• Cake Cutting (5 mins, near the end of dinner)

• First Dance for the Newlyweds (5 mins, right after dinner)

• Father-Bride Dance (5 mins)

• Mother-Groom Dance (5 mins)

• Bridal Party Dance (5 mins)

• Money Dance (20-30 mins)

• Garter / Bouquet Ceremony (10 mins)

• Open Dancing (1-3 hours)

• Last Dance (5 mins)
